From L.A.’s sassy fashionistas showing off their wispy floral-patterned sundresses and chic high-heeled sandals to a plethora of outdoor events finally ready to host the crowds eager to attend them, there’s no doubt that spring has arrived in Southern California. After all, us Angelinos deserve to celebrate the clear skies, perfect weather and vivid blooms – at last, a time of the year to truly enjoy the city’s best entertainment al fresco with the fresh, floral scents filling the air and Golden State sunshine bronzing our skin.

The following recommendations represent some of the best reasons you should be enjoying Woodland Hills this spring.

SpringTopia Fest 2023, taking place at 6100 Topanga Canyon Boulevard and running through April 16, is a fun-filled family experience for all ages. The outdoor event features upgraded fairground amusement concepts by combining several theme park experiences into one exciting extravaganza. What’s more, the 200,000 square-foot space features seven individually-themed interactive and immersive “lands” in the spirit of Disney in Anaheim – Fun-Land, Holiday-Land, Puppy-Land, Lightshow-Land, Pirate-Land, Circus-Land and Spooky-Land, with each land representing a designated area with its own theme, identity and aforementioned immersive experience. Take in an amazing light show, pet real puppies, visit a 3D circus, experience Winter Wonderland, explore two giant spooky mazes, board a life-size pirate ship and join in a silent disco. There are also cool rides, fun games and fantastic food/beverage offerings to satisfy the whole family. Open Wednesdays through Fridays from 4 pm to 10 pm (last entry at 9:05 pm) and Saturdays/Sundays from 10 am to 10 pm (last entry 9:05 pm).

RENT at the LAPC Theatre Performing Arts Mainstage, 6201 Winnetka Avenue, will have you singing and dancing in the aisles, as the show has done for millions of dedicated fans across the country. Without doubt, RENT is one of the most famous musicals of the last 20 years, and in the rendition coming to the LAPC Theatre Performing Arts Mainstage, lead principles Roger and Mark take to the stage for this epic rock opera in what appears to be a warehouse conversion of a flat – Roger sporting a Fender guitar and Mark filming him with an 8mm camera. Enjoy two hours of music craftsmanship from the late Johnathan Larsen, who takes you – the audience – on a rollercoaster ride following the stories of young artists trying to make ends meet in the Bohemian Alphabet City, under the shadow of HIV/AIDS. Scheduled for Friday, May 5.

Oro Solido and Grupo Bamba at Pierce College, 6201 Winnetka Avenue, will be a show you won’t want to miss, especially if you’re a fan of great Latin music. Oro Solido is a New York-based merengue group that has sold several albums, their music going on to be featured in films as well as on tropical music stations since 1995. Formed by Raul Acosta, who has received the name “El Presidente,” Oro Solido has performed regularly on some of Hispanic TV’s most distinguished and popular shows, and is also the first merengue band to have performed on Fox 5 New York and the Jerry Lewis Telethon – Acosta has even performed for the inauguration of President George W. Bush’s second term in Constitution Hall in Washington D.C. Pierce College will be hosting this one-of-a-kind act alongside Grupo Bamba, famous for songs like “Te Lo Doy Telo doy,” “TE LO DOY,” “Sin Gorrito No” and “Carino Mio,” on Sunday, April 30; doors open at 11:00 and ticket prices start at $25.

Situated in a mysterious space between heaven and earth, Cirque du Soleil Corteo celebrates the here and hereafter with laughter and exuberance, where rich extravagant memories frolic with the senses and the sound of laughter fuses with visions of joyous tumblers and players that fascinate the eyes.
