Warner Center Park, located at 5800 Topanga Canyon Boulevard, presents free concerts in the summer and has become a favorite spot for Los Angelinos looking to kill a lazy afternoon. Pack up a picnic dinner, blanket, and chairs and then grab some space to enjoy a day of live music – all in “concert-in-the-park” style – while watching the mesmerizing Southern California sunset amidst a lush, picturesque dusk. Whether it’s a romantic date or an evening out with the kids and dogs, Warner Center Park doesn’t disappoint.

Serrania Park, located at 20726 Wells Drive, features children’s play areas, picnic tables, restrooms, hiking trails, and walking paths, with a large grassy area for your four-legged friends to stretch their legs in a friendly, social environment. The park is clean, well-kept, and boasts plenty of parking, with concrete sidewalks that encompass the large grassy field – indeed, this is the consummate outdoor experience wrapped as a charming neighborhood park in a quiet part of town.

Calabasas Farmers Market, located in Old Town Calabasas on Calabasas Road just west of El Canon Avenue, offers a unique experience compared to the other entries on this list of free outdoor family activities near Woodland Hills. A favorite weekend social and shopping mecca for many years now, the Market features an assortment of vendors selling fresh produce and a variety of foods, with many recently introducing wine and a selection of flowers over the past few years. The Market is open every Saturday, rain or shine, from 8 am to 1 pm.

Leonis Adobe and Plummer House Museum, situated at 23537 Calabasas Road in Calabasas, invites you and the whole family to come discover what it was like to live in the 1880s on a San Fernando Valley ranch. The Leonis Adobe represents a Monterey-style adobe house and working ranch originally owned by Miguel Leonis, who was once known as “El Basco Grande,” or “The Big Basque”. The property includes the 1844 adobe house, barn, and corrals with livestock, outbuildings, wagons, and crops. Also part of the facility is the Plummer House, a restored Victorian from West Hollywood, and the Calabasas Creek Park, boasting peaceful oak trees, gardens, a year-round stream and duck pond, and replica Chumash village.

The various sports and summer camp offerings have proven to be a resounding success with children from 4 to 15 since the inception of these programs, the grounds themselves boasting baseball fields, basketball courts, tennis courts, a multi-purpose gymnasium, and large pool.
