The Fourth of July – otherwise known as Independence Day – in the United States has been a federal holiday since 1941, but Independence Day celebration tradition dates back to the 18th century and the American Revolution. On July 2, 1776, the Continental Congress placed its votes supporting independence, and the 13 colonies’ delegates adopted the Declaration of Independence, a document of supreme historic importance drafted by Thomas Jefferson, two days later. From 1776 to the present day, the Fourth of July has symbolized the birth of American independence, and is celebrated by way of festivities running the gamut from fireworks, concerts and parades to more casual family gatherings amidst the backdrop of delicious backyard barbecue. There’s plenty to do and see in the Woodland Hills area when it comes to fireworks displays. Here’s our top picks for celebrating the red, white and blue loudly and proudly in 2017 by way of awesome fireworks in Woodland Hills and surrounding neighborhoods.
