We all love canines of all shapes, sizes and breeds, and we definitely love the city of Angels – so what’s better than a guide of the best places to bring our four-legged friends? Nothing, really…and that’s why we’ve collected a list of some of the best dog friendly parks to take our pups when we go out in Woodland Hills.

Please note that there have been mandatory citywide park enclosure notices for parks and beaches related to the city’s Safer-at-Home directives and the L.A. County public health orders for the containment of COVID-19, so be sure to check with each park you’re interested in visiting before you head out.

Serrania Park, located at 20726 Wells Drive, often finds its way onto many of our Woodland Hills Magazine lists, and for good reason: This sprawling oasis features a children’s play area, picnic tables, restrooms, hiking trail and walking path, but perhaps best of all, it has become known as one of the very best spots in all of SoCal where dogs can run and play with each other amidst a vast grassy expanse. Often referred to by locals as “the de-facto dog park,” Serrania is well-maintained for the many canines of all sizes that come here to run leash-free and frolic in the open space.

Calabasas Bark Park, located at 4232 Las Virgenes Road in Calabasas, remains true to its namesake, offering a small, fenced, off-leash experience that’s much loved by locals, and which includes a separate area for children and water fountains. With nice shady spots for owners and seating, the Bark Park is normally quiet and sits alongside a hiking trail that allows your four-legged companion to get some exercise alongside you. Don’t miss this spot the next time you’re out for some fun with your pooch!

Warner Ranch Park, located at 5800 Topanga Canyon Boulevard, is known primarily for its concerts in the summer, but the area has also become popular amongst canine lovers over the years. For those in the Valley who don’t feel like trucking over to Griffith Park for a bit of fresh air, Warner Center Park is at your service, charmingly nestled in Woodland Hills and boasting ample shade, convenient parking and a myriad of things to explore. Bring the kids, both the two-legged and four-legged kind, as Warner Center Park’s relaxed vibe and wide open spaces welcome pets, families and everyone in-between. Open every day, dawn until dusk.

Sepulveda Basin Off-Leash Dog Park, located at 17550 Victory Boulevard in Encino, is often called “the Valley dog’s social scene,” offering one of the most comfortable, relaxed and well-maintained off-leash environments in Los Angeles. With two small dog runs and one large variant, there’s something here for every pooch and even for their human counterparts – plenty of chairs, benches and trees that shade the sun await at Sepulveda Basin, perfect for when you want to read a book while your dog relaxes alongside. Unlike most of the other Los Angeles dog parks, the Sepulveda Basin park actually feels like a park, what with grass that’s plentiful and well-maintained, even in the off-leash areas, which is something that has become exceedingly rare.

People in Woodland Hills love their dogs, and letting them run around and play is a super-fun way to spend the day. We hope our Best Parks to Take Your Dog in Woodland Hills roundup has helped if you have been contemplating the best place to take your best friend.
