Though we’re approaching the kickoff of the autumn season and getting ready to leave summer 2023 behind, there are still plenty of warm days left in the SoCal region, which means we can still get in our frozen treat fixes.

Whether it’s ice cream, gelato or frozen yogurt you crave, the following Woodland Hills spots have what it takes to ease the transition from summer to fall.

Bluebird Ice Creamery of Los Angeles was established in 2013 and has become L.A.’s number one ice cream catering service, the attention to every detail coupled with gorgeous displays and carts, to say nothing of the fabulous ice cream, keeping this business on the radar of sweet aficionados all over the Valley. As SoCal’s only dedicated ice cream catering company, the detail-oriented service simply can’t be found anywhere else in the Golden State, offering you four options for catering your next event. To be honest, our favorite Bluebird item has to be the incredible Ultimate Sundae Bar – try it today! The business, which is not a brick-and-mortar operation, is open daily from 10:30 am to 6 pm.

Handel’s Homemade Ice Cream, located at 8850 Corbin Avenue in Northridge but with a Mulholland Drive address in Woodland Hills coming soon, has been making their sweet delights fresh daily at each store since 1945 using an abundance of only the best ingredients available. Recognized as the number one ice cream in the world – not an easy task considering the competition – Handel’s offers over 100 irresistible flavors so there’s something for everyone in the family. This legacy-rich business can trace its roots back to Alice Handel who, in the summer heat of 1945, created the sweetest of sumptuous frozen treats in Youngstown, Ohio using fresh fruit from her backyard garden and her own personal recipes – the result was a lovingly-made ice cream that quickly became a neighborhood favorite.

Cereal Twister, located at 6600 Topanga Canyon Boulevard at the Westfield Topanga Mall in Canoga Park, is a new store concept with an extensive offering of European and American cereals and granolas, as well as high-quality ingredients such as fresh fruits, delicious toppings and natural proteins. Enjoy cereal bowls, cereal ice creams, cereal shakes, Acai and natural protein smoothie bowls, and even fresh fruit smoothies. Open Monday through Thursday from 10 am to 8 pm, Friday and Saturday from 10 am to 9 pm and Sunday from 11 am to 7 pm.

SweetSnow, located at 9420 Reseda Boulevard Suite 7 in Northridge, was established in 2013 and was originally conceived as a gourmet ice cream shop before its owners tried “snowcream” – and were immediately smitten. A unique cross between finely-textured Hawaiian shaved ice and creamy ice cream, snowcream is made from frozen blocks of fresh milk and natural ingredients whirled against a sharp blade that produces a shower of soft, beautifully-layered product. At your request, fresh fruits, nuts or a variety of other toppings – and a little condensed milk or any of SweetSnow’s drizzles – can be added. Open Tuesday through Thursday from 12 pm to 9 pm and Friday through Sunday from 12 pm to 10 pm; closed Monday.

Anita La Mamma Del Gelato, located at 18700 Ventura Boulevard Suite 120, traces its roots back to a small Mediterranean kitchen almost 20 years ago, where Mama Anita, with the help of her youngest son Nir, would whip up tasty frozen treats for friends and neighbors. Soon word spread, and it wasn’t long before older brother Adi came aboard, and since then, the little ice cream parlor that could has become a successful international chain with branches from Australia to New York. Today, Anita’s boutique ice creams are 100 percent handmade, and no matter your favorite flavor, Anita has you covered – pick from over 150 different kinds of frozen yogurt, sorbets and organic sugar-free, fat-free, soy-based and real cream-based ice creams. Open daily from 8 am to 12 am the next day.

Don’t let the shadow of the looming fall season dissuade you from enjoying one last frozen treat before the summer is gone.
