Ciao, L.A.!

Noteworthy Woodland Hills Pizza Restaurants

Honestly…is there anything better than a good slice of pizza or, better yet, an entire piping hot pizza pie to share with friends over great conversation? From the gooey, delicious cheese crisping into a golden coating to the almost limitless variations of toppings to satisfy anyone’s taste buds, there’s no food quite like pizza that’s so universally adored or globally recognized; just add a pitcher of frosty, icy-cold beer or sweetly delectable soda, and the makings of a truly mouthwatering evening are on hand, whether it’s delivered in or enjoyed out.

Quality Woodland Hills pizza spots are not a dime-a-dozen, but we have compiled our favorite locales serving some of the most scrumptious pizza, pasta, salads and sandwiches in this little slice (no pun intended) of Los Angeles, and which definitely stand a head and shoulder above the rest.

The Original Pizza Cookery, located at 6209 Topanga Canyon Boulevard, has been serving up delicious pizzas, pasta dishes, salad creations and warm homemade garlic cheese bread to its legions of satisfied customers since 1975. Keeping these patrons coming back for more – beyond the restaurant’s pizza – are elements such as an open-view kitchen, sawdust-covered floors, enormous serving sizes and an overtly friendly wait staff. The Pizza Cookery has won numerous awards and continues to be honored year in, year out by leading magazines, blogs, review sites and television stations.

Topanga Pizza & Café, situated at 22994 Ventura Boulevard, boasts an encompassing menu that features everything from salads and hot/cold subs to chicken pastas, seafood pastas, lasagnas, eggplant dishes and, of course, pizza. The café’s pizza offerings are among the most unique among Woodland Hills pizza spots, beginning with such basic entries as a Cheese Pizza and going up to including such lavish toppings as fresh shrimp and BBQ chicken or spicy chicken.

Residing proudly as an establishment in the West San Fernando Valley for the last 28 years, Paoli’s Pizzeria & Piano Bar, located at 21020 Ventura Boulevard, takes a unique approach to the pizza scene in picturesque Woodland Hills. When the restaurant first opened its doors in 1984, deep dish Chicago-style pizza was served to its customers, eventually leading to throngs of loyal patrons that flocked to the location to try the mouthwatering recipes handed down from generation to generation. Using only fresh ingredients in its selections and boasting décor that harkens back to the 1950s with its red drapes, chandeliers and photos of adoring customers, Paoli’s offers Early Bird dinner specials from six to seven pm Sunday through Thursday and from 5:30 to seven pm Friday and Saturday. The restaurant also features a karaoke club open seven nights a week, exhibiting state-of-the-art equipment along with classic 1970s to 2012 videos and dance music.

Barone’s Pizzeria Express, located at 22435-D Ventura Boulevard, serves up family-friendly pizzas made from dough of only the freshest ingredients including enriched hard winter wheat flour, unbleached and unbromated wheat flour, malted barley flour, niacin, iron, thiamin and other low-Gluten content. The restaurant features a fast delivery service and caters to Woodland Hills, West Hills, Canoga Park, Reseda, Tarzana and Calabasas.

Nicola’s Kitchen, conveniently located at 20969 Ventura Boulevard, offers a gigantic menu spanning everything from breakfast to an almost infinite selection of sandwiches, pasta dishes and desserts. The restaurant’s pizza selections are as varied as the menu’s other options, and includes Nicola’s Traditional Pizza available in three sizes, in addition to a bevy of toppings, gourmet toppings, vegetarian pies and special pizzas. A diverse California-Style Pizzas menu offers variants with a lighter crust and without traditional pizza sauce.

Pizza is not all things to everyone, yet it remains a staple of American dining so traditional in its approach and so widespread in its popularity, it has become a food that brings out the kid in all of us. For the residents of Woodland Hills, it’s never been a better time to be a full-fledged pizza enthusiast, what with all these wonderful Woodland Hills pizza restaurants about the town.

Just be sure not to slip on that silky white dress or shirt if you plan on ordering that pie with extra sauce…
