Aside from barbecues, lemonade and Fourth of July fireworks extravaganzas, summer is also the time for following our favorite bands and watching them perform in the great outdoors. For many of us, if we’re not at the beach or relaxing by the pool, we’re throwing our hands up and screaming at the stage as some summertime music bellows from an array of speakers at an outdoor amphitheater.
For residents of Woodland Hills and nearby neighborhoods, summer represents the perfect time to pack up the family and take in some musical fun – all that’s needed is the right guide. Below are our recommendations for some electrifying music events near Woodland Hills that are sure to keep you entertained for the warm months ahead…in fact, each of these venues we’re about to showcase are presenting multiple concerts and events throughout the summer.
Concerts on the Green, sponsored by the Valley Cultural Foundation and held at the beautiful Lou Bredlow Pavilion in Warner Park at 5800 Topanga Canyon Boulevard, are free to the public and held on Sunday evenings from June 9 to August 18, beginning at 5:30 PM and typically ending at 8 PM unless otherwise noted. Scheduled for this season, starting on June 9, is Ambrosia and Friends, followed by Beatles vs. Stones (June 16), Hollywood U2 (June 23), The Young Dubliners (June 30), Led Zepagain (July 14), The McCartney Years (July 21), Queen Nation – A Tribute to the Music of Queen (July 28), Masters of Soul (August 4), Which One’s Pink? Tribute to the Music of Pink Floyd (August 11) and The Purple Xperience: Prince Tribute (August 18).
The 2019 Sun Sets Concert Series at Calabasas Lake, part of the Calabasas Summer Concert Series held at the Calabasas Lake Greenbelt, presents exciting concert performances beginning at 6 PM which are free to the public. On June 9, Queen Nation – A Tribute to the Music of Queen rocks Calabasas Lake, offering a retrospective journey through the greatest Queen songs including “We Will Rock You” and “Bohemian Rhapsody.” On July 14, Boxcar 7, a seven-piece show band, will cover inspirational blues hits by B.B. King, Otis Redding, Ray Charles and more, while on August 4, Abba Fab – A Tribute to the Music of ABBA will showcase the monster 70s and 80s hits of the band including “Waterloo,” “Fernando,” “Honey Honey,” “Dancing Queen” and countless others.
The Canyon – Agoura Hills, located at 28912 Roadside Drive in Agoura Hills, will be a hotbed of music events near Woodland Hills, starting on April 3 with Country Night (taking place every Wednesday) and going on to encompass The Sweet on April 4, Wilson Phillips (with opening sets by Haddon Cord and Lauren Waller) on April 5, Vince Neil of Motley Crue “Performing All the Motley Crue Hits” (with opening sets by Fat Daddy Special and The Guitar and Whiskey Club) on April 6, Albert Lee (with opening sets by Steve McPeters and Nick Marechal) on April 11 and a host of other electrifying performances.
If you didn’t think there were any interesting music events near Woodland Hills to attend this summer, think again – you’ll be hard-pressed to find a more star-studded schedule anywhere in town. See you all there!
