FARM-FRESH…EVEN AFTER DARK

Village at Westfield Topanga to Begin Evening Farmers Market in 2017

Can you smell it? Sure, that unmistakable aroma of the fall season is still in the air, with whimsical notes of pumpkin spice, Halloween and Thanksgiving, all of which take us back to childhood memories of pre-winter euphoria…but around the Woodland Hills area on the lush outskirts of Los Angeles, something else is piercing the gentle Southern California breeze, and it has everything to do with farm-fresh overtones poised to satisfy even the most seasoned of produce lovers.evening Farmers Market at The Village at Westfield Topanga

In response to an exhaustively thorough review of trends – and in working closely with Raw Inspirations, operator of The Village Farmers MarketVillage at Westfield Topanga representatives have announced a change to an evening Farmers Market venue, previously held on Sundays and the last of which was held on October 30. January 2017 will mark the beginning of the new evening Farmers Market at The Village at Westfield Topanga, and according to Village representatives will include everything customers have come to expect from the market with items like fresh fruit and produce, but which will also feature additional elements to create more of an “event” vibe and experience for the community.

The 2017 market will be held on Fridays and will relocate to the northeast corner of Topanga Canyon Boulevard and Victory, with Village at Westfield representatives expecting it to be a tremendous draw for the Destination, as it is known. The exact name of the market and official Friday launch date in 2017 is still to be determined and will, according to Village at Westfield reps, be announced sometime in the near future.

The original Village Farmers Market opened on September 20, 2015 and has been held every Sunday from 9 am to 1 pm, offering everything from farm-fresh eggs to fresh-picked berries, jams, croissants, yogurt, fresh-cut flowers and even a bread bar. Businesses that set up shop at the market included The Perfect Egg, Mama Minas, Bibi’s Bakery, Ojai Valley Granola, Stone Fruits and Maidens Delight, treating patrons to a plethora of delectable treats such as fresh-squeezed juices, sweet morsels, gourmet coffees and teas, dried fruits and nuts, specialty gourmet prepared foods, baked goods, nursery items and more.

What also enabled the original Farmers Market  at The Village at Westfield Topanga to stand out was the way the weekly marketplace also offered artisan products such as furnishings, clothing and accessories, handmade jewelry, ceramics, gift baskets, soaps, candles, bath and body amenities and greeting cards. Presented in a “charming and old town-style farmstand fashion,” the original market boasted the very best seasonal fresh fruits and vegetables sustainably sourced from California farmers such as Etheridge Farms, Maggie’s Farms, Country Fresh, Alexander Ranch, Bloom Honey and many others.
