Local Watering Holes and Their Signature Selections:
Discovering Summer Cocktails in Woodland Hills

Apple pie and vanilla ice cream. Baseball and Cracker Jacks. A classic muscle car with a big-bore engine. There are some things that just naturally go hand-in-hand, and for drink aficionados, summertime means delectable cocktail concoctions. Along with slipping into that flirty sundress and donning those stylish rhinestone-framed sunglasses, take a walk on Woodland Hills’ wild side this summer by checking out these cool local watering holes and sampling their signature summer cocktails.

Trust us…that after-work drink or evening excursion with the ladies – or fellow gents – has never been so exotically refreshing.

The Local Peasant is an uber-charming Prohibition-era pub infused with a hip Cali vibe, and whether it’s an after-work drink, girls or guys night out, Lakers games, late nights with good friends or over-indulgent brunches with “new friends,” this spot has what you’re looking for. A rotating selection of craft ale and seasonal drinks fill The Local Peasant’s menu, while a unique Bloody Mary Bar beckons you to step on up and make one of your very own. Among this Woodland Hills favorite’s myriad of notable cocktail creations is the St. Germaine, made with seasonal local berries, St. Germaine, vodka, lemon and sparkling wine, and the Gordon’s Cup, made with cracked cucumber, tequila, lime and agave nectar, finished off with a dash of salt.

LUKE has become a Woodland Hills neighborhood staple where quality food and handcrafted beverages meet at the corner of excellent customer service. Established in 2015, LUKE occupies the former La Frite space that has been stripped back to the original 1950s structure, creatively redesigned to offer a refreshing, casually chic and desirable experience, whether you’re eating or drinking. LUKE’s go-to summer cocktails include the Two Cities, featuring gin, St. Germaine, lemon juice, berry puree and jalapeno syrup, and the Cu Cu Ru Cu Cu, featuring El Silencio Mezcal, tequila, orgeat, orange bitters and soda.

Café Fiore – meaning “flower” in Italian – is a casual trattoria-style restaurant boasting a modern twist on classic Italian dishes, with the eatery also being known for its cocktail selection. The café’s casual lounge is the place to try the handcrafted martinis and other concoctions, including 12 draft beers to choose from and a bar menu to complement all beverages. Café Fiore presents two special cocktails for the summer season, the Pineapple Basil Drop, made with Skyy pineapple vodka, fresh basil, lemon and pineapple juice, and the Cucumber Martini, made with 10 Cane rum, muddled cucumber, fresh lemon juice, peach schnapps and agave nectar.

Tipsy Cow was established in 2014 and has quickly become an eclectic “urban eating house” specializing in not only great food but delectable cocktails – and what’s often called “the most interesting beers in town,” to boot. The venue features 32 draft beers, each handle personally selected to create a selection that is at once innovative in its makeup and inclusive in its appeal. Not a fan of the suds? Ask a Tipsy Cow expert bartender to suggest a selection from the restaurant’s unique, hand-chosen wine list or one of the house-made signature cocktails. Speaking of cocktails, summer concoctions currently popular at Tipsy Cow include Ventura Lemonade, featuring Titos vodka, house-made vanilla bean lemonade and lemon, and the English Scotsman, with chamomile-infused scotch, lemon, honey simple and coriander.

JOEY Woodland Hills is a great contemporary dining spot and local drink venue guaranteed to get you in the summer mood. Whether you choose to sit inside or out on JOEY’s lavish patio, there’s no better place to gather up some friends and enjoy signature cocktails and memorable cuisine. This summer, JOEY Woodland Hills is featuring two incredible drink creations, the Elderflower Collins, made with New Amsterdam gin, elderflower and grapefruit, and the Spa Cosmo Martini, made with Pearl vodka, cucumber, cranberry juice and lime.

When the hankering for a cool, refreshing summer cocktail hits, don’t miss out on these last few precious weeks of summer to satisfy that craving…stop by any of the locales showcased above and let your taste buds rejoice.
